Climate Emotion Toolkit

The Climate Emotion Toolkit (ClEmTo) is an Erasmus+ project funded by the European Union that started in September 2025 and runs for 34 months. In the project we work together with partner organizations in Serbia and Croatia and also with the Swedish climate psychologist Frida Hylander. The project is divided into 4 different work packages.

The emphasis in the project is on climate emotions and anxiety among youths and to provide teachers working in primary and secondary schools with pupils aged 13-19 to handle the climate emotions and anxiety among their pupils, and also by themselves. According to a study 80% of teachers in Sweden feel unprepared to handle and discuss climate anxiety among their pupils. Climate change and sustainable development are part of curriculum but not climate anxiety and climate emotions. Climate anxiety is widespread among youths. Climate change and sustainability are profound issues so we need to act. Young generations can feel left behind.

In the project we hope to provide tools through an interactive tool kit with games and exercises and also promote and encourage civic actions among youths. Another part of the project is to also work with climate disinformation which is a big challenge. The project hope to promote action and to work together. Climate anxiety may lead to feelings of hopelessness and paralysis. We hope to provide tools for civic action and active citizenship.

In the project we will also carry out a literature review, and focus groups with teachers, that leads to the tool kit. There will be meetings in all partner countries.

Project objectives
