Mobilizing a Circular Economy: Nature-Based Solutions in Coastal Zones

MOBILIZING A CIRCULAR ECONOMY NATURE-BASED SOLUTIONS IN COASTAL ZONES: TRANSFORMING BEACH WRACK INTO A SOIL RESOURCE FOR NUTRIENT RECYCLING AND REGIONAL SUSTAINABILITY
Join us for the final conference of the ECONUT project, where we present key insights, results, and future opportunities for turning beach wrack into a valuable resource.
Across Europe, coastal regions face growing challenges related to beach wrack accumulation. At the same time, there is an urgent need to transition towards more circular, resource-efficient systems. ECONUT explores how these challenges can be connected—transforming what is often seen as waste into a resource for nutrient recycling, soil improvement, and regional sustainability.
During this conference, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and industry representatives will come together to:
- Share knowledge on coastal ecosystems and nutrient cycles
- Present innovative methods for processing and utilizing beach wrack
- Explore nature-based solutions for climate resilience
- Discuss circular business models and community-based approaches
- Highlight results from pilot cases and practical implementations
The event will feature keynote speakers, expert presentations, and interactive discussions, offering both scientific insights and real-world applications.
A detailed agenda and speaker list will be published shortly.
We look forward to welcoming you to a day of knowledge exchange, collaboration, and inspiration for advancing circular solutions in coastal regions.
The event is free and open for all
Participants can join either in person in Gdańsk or online.
